Priority Deliverables For 2025 Under the New Unified Human Foods Program

On October 30, 2024, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA or Agency) Unified Human Foods Program (HFP or Program) released its Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 Priority Deliverables (the Deliverables). The Deliverables are areas, and subareas, that the HFP plans to prioritize in FY 2025:

Microbiological Safety: Preventing and addressing foodborne illness
Food Chemical Safety: Ensuring exposure to chemicals in food is safe
Nutrition: Empowering consumers to build nutritious diets
Transforming the Human Foods Program

Along with the Deliverables, HFP also announced its plan to develop a multi-year Strategic Plan to advance the HFP’s health and wellness goals. HFP plans to provide regular updates on its progress in implementing the Deliverables and developing the Strategic Plan.

Please contact Kyla Kaplan (kkaplan@ofwlaw.com) if you have any questions about HFP, the Deliverables, or the forthcoming Strategic Plan. We would also be happy to assist with any compliance issues as a result of the Program or the changes brought forth by the Deliverables. We note that implementation of many of the Deliverables is already underway. FDA, like all other federal agencies, may see changes in leadership and priorities after the U.S. election.
