The World Food Program USA (WFP USA) announced it is naming its boardroom the Marshall Matz Boardroom. Marshall founded the organization twenty-five years ago and it has since grown into a significant NGO supporting the work of the United Nations World Food Programme, which is the largest feeding program in the world.

Earlier this month, the World Food Programme was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for its efforts to combat hunger, its contribution to bettering conditions for peace in conflict-affected areas, and for acting as a driving force in efforts to prevent the use of hunger as a weapon of war and conflict. Last year, the World Food Programme helped almost 100 million people across 88 countries who suffer acute food insecurity and hunger.

Marshall has spent his career in the fight to end domestic and global food insecurity. He previously served as the General Counsel to the Senate Select Committee on Nutrition and worked alongside Senator George McGovern and Senator Bob Dole implementing vital legislation, such as the McGovern- Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program.

OFW would like to congratulate Marshall for his dedication to ending hunger around the world. In a congratulatory letter from Senator Bob Dole, he said he sends, “heartfelt thanks to you [Marshall] for the commitment you have made and my most sincere congratulations on this wonderful honor that is so justly deserved”.
