Harrison Pittman of the National Agricultural Law Center (NALC) will be hosting a webinar discussing laws pertaining to the foreign ownership of agricultural land tomorrow (Oct. 20) at Noon (Eastern). The webinar will discuss federal and state laws pertaining to foreign ownership of agricultural land, such as the Agricultural Foreign Investment Disclosure Act (AFIDA), as well as proposed legislation that is under consideration.

AFIDA, which is administered by the USDA Farm Service Agency, requires that foreign investors who acquire, transfer, or hold an interest in agricultural land report their holdings or transactions in an AFIDA Report (Form FSA-153). Oftentimes foreign investors are unaware of USDA’s AFIDA compliance requirements. Failure to comply with AFIDA reporting requirements can result in enforcement actions and civil penalties.

OFW Law’s USDA attorneys have experience advising clients on compliance with AFIDA as well as representation in AFIDA enforcement actions.
