Nancy A. Nord
As a former commissioner and acting chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Ms. Nord counsels companies on compliance and enforcement policies and practices of the CPSC and related health, safety and regulatory issues. She works with companies to design and implement effective compliance programs and also works with corporations, industry coalitions, and nonprofit organizations to develop and implement the legislative and regulatory aspects of government advocacy programs.
Ms. Nord’s prior experience as General Counsel of the White House Council on Environmental Quality and as counsel to the House Energy and Commerce Committee , as well as the founding executive director of the Association of Corporate Counsel, gives her unique perspective into all aspects of federal policy making, and its impact on regulated entities, in the environmental, safety and related policy areas.

Ms. Nord served as the University of Pennsylvania School of Law Distinguished Policy Fellow for the 2018 academic year. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Fireworks Standards Laboratory which writes safety standards for the fireworks industry. She is on the Advisory Board of the Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety which works to improve factory working conditions in the garment industry in Bangladesh. She also served on the Advisory Board of the Legal Center of the National Federation of Independent Business. Since leaving the CPSC at the end of 2013, Ms Nord has been active in speaking and writing on issues dealing with safety regulation and corporate compliance.
