OFW is pleased to announce that Thomas Pahl has joined the firm as Of Counsel.  Mr. Pahl will focus his work on food and drug consumer protection and competition matters.  Adding someone with Mr. Pahl’s broad and deep governmental and regulatory experience to OFW Law enhances our ability to provide advice, counsel, and support to clients in understanding and responding to regulations which may affect business operations.

Mr. Pahl served in the federal government for nearly 30 years.  Among other roles during more than two decades at the Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”), he was the Acting Director of its Bureau of Consumer Protection in 2017 and 2018.  In earlier management stints at the FTC, he was an Assistant Director in the FTC’s Division of Financial Practices and in the FTC’s Division of Advertising Practices, which is responsible for the agency’s food and drug advertising enforcement and policies.  In addition to his experience at the FTC, from 2018 to 2020 he was the Policy Associate Director for the Division of Research, Markets at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (“CFPB”) as well as the Deputy Director of the CFPB in 2020 and 2021.  Mr. Pahl previously was a counsel to the United States Senate Judiciary Committee as well as an adjunct professor of law at George Mason’s Antonin Scalia Law School.

Mason Weeda, Managing Principal, stated: “The FTC and other regulators have become increasingly active in food and drug matters.  Our clients need to understand the risks they face in the current regulatory environment and develop successful responses to those risks.  OFW Law is pleased to welcome Mr. Pahl because his broad and deep experience in government will augment that of other OFW Law professionals in assessing and responding to regulatory risks, thereby providing our clients with the highest quality representation we can.”

Pahl, Thomas B.
